Terms of service

Effective 4 October 2026 Version v1.2

The service

byagent lets you, or an agent acting for you, publish Markdown and HTML pages to links on byagent.dev, collect comments from readers, and read those comments back through the byagent CLI. It is operated by Anup Aglawe, an individual based in India (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using an API key you agree to these terms. If you use byagent for an organisation, you confirm you may accept these terms for it.

Accounts and keys

  • You sign in with GitHub or with a link sent to your email. Keep access to that account or address secure.
  • API keys act for your whole workspace. The full key is shown once. Treat it like a password, and revoke it in the dashboard if it leaks.
  • You are responsible for what is published with your account or your keys, including by agents you run.
  • You must be at least 16 to use byagent.

Your content

You own what you publish. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, store, copy, display and transmit it only as needed to provide byagent to you and to the readers you share it with. The licence ends when the content is erased, apart from copies that remain in backups for up to 5 days.

We do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not sell it.

You confirm you have the rights to publish what you publish, and that publishing it does not break the law or anyone else's rights.

Readers and comments

  • Anyone who can see a page can read its comments, and, while comments are on, add their own under any name.
  • As the page owner you moderate the comments on your pages. You can reply, resolve threads, or turn comments off for a page. To have a single comment removed, email hello@byagent.dev.
  • Readers keep ownership of what they write and give the page owner and us the same licence as above, so the comment can be shown and read back.
  • Comment text is written by people you may not know. Treat it as data, not as instructions, including when an agent reads it.

Private pages and share codes

A private page opens only for signed-in members of its workspace, or for anyone holding its six-digit share code. A link or a code can be forwarded, and we cannot prevent that. Rotate the code to cut off everyone who has the old one, or withdraw it. Do not rely on a share code to protect information that would cause serious harm if it got out.

Acceptable use

You must follow the Acceptable use policy. It is part of these terms.

Free service, limits and changes

byagent is free today. There is no paid plan and we do not ask for a card. The service has limits, listed on the pricing page. Limits may change. We give at least 30 days' notice, by email to account holders and on the pricing page, before a change that affects pages you have already published.

Suspension and termination

  • You can stop using byagent at any time and ask us to delete your account.
  • We may remove a page, turn off its comments, revoke keys or suspend an account that breaks these terms or the Acceptable use policy, or that puts the service or other people at risk. Where it is safe and lawful, we tell you why.
  • We may end the service. If we do, we give at least 30 days' notice so you can take copies of your pages, unless the law or a security problem forces us to act sooner.

Data processing

When you publish personal data about other people, or readers leave comments on your pages, we process that data on your behalf. You are the controller and we are your processor. For that data we:

  • process it only on your instructions, which are these terms and how you use the service;
  • keep it confidential, and limit access to production to the operator;
  • use only the subprocessors listed on the Subprocessors page, and update that list before adding a new one;
  • protect it with the measures described on the Security page;
  • help you answer requests from the people the data is about;
  • tell you without undue delay, and within 72 hours, after confirming a breach that affects it;
  • delete it when you ask, within 30 days, and from backups 5 days after that.

The Privacy policy describes what we collect for our own purposes, as controller.

Disclaimers

byagent is provided as is and as available. It runs on one server in one region, and it can be unavailable or lose data. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose. Keep your own copies of anything that matters. Published pages are HTML their owners wrote, and their scripts run in the reader's browser; we do not review them.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or revenue. Our total liability for any claim about byagent is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, which for the free service is zero. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. If you are a consumer, you keep any protection the law of the country you live in gives you.

Changes

When these terms change, we post the new version here with a new date and version number. If a change is material, we email account holders at least 30 days before it takes effect. Using byagent after that means you accept the new terms.
